Wave Centre Armagh

We were approached by the WAVE Trauma Centre in Armagh City to provide the photography for two new commissioned books featuring art works designed by their members. WAVE is a grass roots, cross community, voluntary organisation formed in 1991 to support people bereaved of a spouse as a result of violence in Northern Ireland. It was expanded later to incorporate the needs of young people and children, and anyone traumatised through the Troubles.

The group members have worked on two projects: a stained glass window project, and a patchwork quilt project. Both projects had their own technical difficulties. With the stained glass project, getting the glass designs properly lit from front and back so the colours and detail could be clearly seen was the issue. The quilt required each patch to be photographed individually and then digitally edited so it was isolated on a white background and then an overall photograph was taken of the complete quilt.

The photographs will be used in the two books where the inspiration and meaning behind each design will be detailed by its creator.
